Some news from North Yorkshire Police;

Motorcyclists are being offered free life-saving advice from a range of top riding experts. The highly successful assessment ride programme comes to Harrogate next week.

All riders have to do is book a free assessment ride starting in Harrogate on Saturday 26 May. Their skills will be observed and then evaluated by Police motorcyclists and other advanced riders, who will give straight-from-the-shoulder evaluation and positive advice.

The day of free advice is based on GW Johnson Motorcycles (Honda), 5 Cheltenham Parade, Harrogate HG1 1DD on Saturday 26 May between 10-4pm.

The North Yorkshire Police Bike Safe team, supported by Harrogate Advanced Bikes and York Advanced Motorcyclists, will be offering tips and an assessed ride to improve riding skills.

Free assessed rides will be on offer to anyone who attends on their bike. Sgt Pete Mason, who heads the county’s Bike Safe initiative, said: “Come along for an informal chat and have your riding skills looked at. You might just pick up some tips that could prevent a crash.”

Visitors attending will also be invited to sign up to aBike Safe skills workshop, based at Thirsk. The workshops cost £50. They include an evening presentation and a two-hour assessed ride on a weekend.

Attendees receive a free goody bag containing informative DVDs aimed at further improving riding skills. Sgt Mason says “Anyone who has passed their test can attend. We cater for all skill levels. The workshop will improve you riding and your enjoyment.”
